Spending a day at the beach is perfect for soaking up some much-needed sun. Rays from the sun can be incredibly rejuvenating, and spending time in the sun can boost your mood, energy, and Vitamin D levels. Of course, safety is essential when sunbathing, so be sure to wear sunscreen and take shade in a cabana or under a beach umbrella or tent when needed. Check out Business & Pleasure for some of the trendiest chic cabanas, tents, and umbrellas which offer tons of protection from the sun.
Life is a beach; I’m just playing in the sand..
Another great thing about the beach is the chance to swim in the ocean. The ocean is a vast and mysterious place, full of fascinating creatures and beautiful sights, so have fun, but always be aware of that factor. Whether you are a seasonal swimmer or dipping your toes in the water, like me, there is something magical about being in the ocean.
Perhaps, like me, you are looking for more active beach fun; if so, there are plenty of beach activities to enjoy. Indulge in a game of beach volleyball, build sandcastles, parasailing, or surfing. And, if you are really feeling adventurous, rent a kayak or paddleboard and explore the ocean from a new perspective.
Of course, spending a day at the beach is about more than just the activities. It is the perfect place and time to unwind and relax. Grab a great summer read, a beach blanket, and a delicious picnic spread, and enjoy the peaceful sound of the waves with no care in the world. If you are in the Hilton Head/Bluffton area and not in the mood for packing lunch or beach gear, check out coastalpicnicrentals.com and let them prepare your space on the beach for two glorious hours with lunch included. The catered lunch is scrumptious, and the beach setup is gorgeous. Or, if you are a social person, you can chat with other beach goers and make new dinner friends.
No matter how you spend your time at the beach, there is no denying that a day at the beach is a special and memorable experience. So, pack your sunscreen, grab your beach towel, and head to the beach for a day of fun, relaxation, and adventure.

Today, we celebrate ALL the men and women in uniforms that represent freedom for the citizens of the United States. Every day we wake up without foreign invasion is worthy of praying for the men and women that ensured that was a possibility. The magnitude of their bravery and service is unfathomable.

Did you know that Memorial Day, formerly known as “Decoration Day” hails from Charleston, South Carolina? On May 1, 1865, former enslaved Union soldiers and missionaries removed the bodies of 257 Union soldiers who died in Confederate prisons from undignified mass graves and laid them to rest in proper graves as an act of gratitude for serving in the military. The soldiers deemed the day Decoration Day, which Americans now celebrate nationally. As we gather with friends and family and head to the beach or cookouts, remember the men and women who died so that we could have freedom.
So today, in memory of MANY, in honor of ALL, THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!

Mothers are an incredible Omnipresence That Happens in Each of our lives for a Reason. A mother frames our story. She is the first person we meet and love and the last person we cry out for. A mother is the essence of our being. Today we salute amazing Queens who love unconditionally and endlessly and support us each step of the way through endless sacrifices.

Love is in the air. Valentine’s Day, a celebration of love and affection originated as a Christian feast over 1500 years ago in honor of a martyr, Valentine. Today is a beautiful way to show love and appreciation to those you love.

As we gather with friends and family on this thankful day: please remember the true meaning of Thanksgiving. Remember what we are giving thanks for this year. Before you indulge in all the trimmings and feast upon the many offerings, try this concept. The late honorable Edna Moseley (Aurora, Colorado’s first African American City Council Member) and her late husband, John Moseley (one of the Tuskegee Airmen), introduced me to this concept during Thanksgiving dinner at their home one year. After praying over the food, have each member at the table recite one thing they are thankful for this year. This became a tradition in our home, and I pray it becomes one in your home. I am thankful for the lessons and blessings all those who journeyed through my life imparted to me. I love and miss each of those individuals, especially during the holidays. I am thankful to the late Moseleys for introducing my family to this tradition. Enjoy your bounty, and be thankful for your time with family and friends today. Find nice ways to give thanks daily! Be Blessed, and don’t forget to take a beach stroll whether warm or cold; it is good for the soul!

It’z just one of those Saturdays on Hilton Head when you just want to sit on the edge of Port Royal Sound at Hudson’s Seafood on the Dock and do absolutely nothing but indulge in some of the freshest local Seafood that the crew hauls in daily and drink a nice cold pilsner of beer. How does six half-pound jumbo shrimp with a spicy cocktail sauce, coconut shrimp dipped in a citrus Thai chili sauce, and a Maryland-style jumbo, colossal lump blue crab cake sound? Wash all that deliciousness down with a nice cold Corona Light with not a worry in the world. That is what you call sitting on the dock of Skull Creek, watching the time roll away on Hilton Head Island.
Hudson’s is located at 1 Hudson Road off Highway 278. The restaurant’s dock boasts magnificent views of Skull Creek on the Port Royal Sound. The family-owned restaurant has been serving fresh local Seafood since 1967, and no visit to the island would be complete without sitting on the dock enjoying a sunset happy hour or dinner. Hudson’s operates from 11:00 am to 900 pm, Monday through Saturday, and from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm on Sundays.
It'z a Shore Thang!

One of my fave places at home on Hilton Head Island is the Rowing and Sailing Center at Squire Pope Community Park, which opened in December 2014. The park is dedicated to Lee Edwards, an Hilton Head Island city council member from 2011-2016 who also happens to be the president and CEO of The Greenery, Inc., one of the island’s best landscaping companies. The view is exquisite; so serene and peaceful. These beautiful optics were captured earlier this month while showing my brother some of the island’s natural beauty. The center is located at 137 Squire Pope Road, which is accessible directly off Highway 278. You will often find locals fishing, crabbing, or just taking in the beauty of the scenery off the pier. It is a magnificent sight to reflect on the small things that make life enjoyable.
Take a peep and check out Lee’s Launch on your next visit to the island.
